Simulator

Seething Flight Simulator Group

The flight sim is available to all existing members while non-members will be able to join the club at a special social membership rate and hopefully find that they will want to take the next step from the simulator's cockpit into a cab of the real thing.

The Flight Simulator

In a cockpit which once belonged to an Enstrom helicopter (G-OPDM) which ended its life on a beach in Ireland, Andrew, a pilot at Seething, has successfully linked the control column and rudders to simulate movement on all axis via Microsoft's Flight Simulator, together with the throttle control.

The move to Hangar 4 has allowed us to install a projector to displaythe passing scenery on a screen in front of the cab completing quite a realistic flying experience.

Using simulators as a flight training tool is nothing new; just think back to the Link Trainers of the RAF. A quick glance through the various pilot supplies catalogues today will show you how much simulator training has developed. A miscellany of software allows current pilots to practice their navigation and IFR skills.

Our second simulator was constructed to offer existing PPLs as realsitic an environment as possible to practice these skills. Based on Sim Kits range of simulator instruments the cockit panel is modelled on a Cessna 172. Ideal for those wet and windy non-flying days.
