G-BCRB Ready for Duty!
The club's new C172 Skyhawk, long awaited replacemment for Oscar Sierra, arrived at the airfield today. The recent wet weather had meant Romeo Bravo had been stuck at Fenland for a number of weeks owing to the grass strip being waterlogged.

After a few anxious phone calls to check on the weather Alan and Humphrey set off for the Lincolnshire airfield to collect the new club aircraft. A small crowd gathered when the familiar whistle of the Humph's RV9 was heard overhead, soon to be followed by the new Sky Hawk. Once on the ground the gathering crowd inspected the aircraft admiringly, a smart paint job and interior to match.

£4,000 Raised for Air Ambulance
In September around 3000 visitors at Seething Charity Air Day were thrilled by the flying display in the skies and the numerous attractions on the ground. In September around 3000 visitors at Seething Charity Air Day were thrilled by the flying display in the skies and the numerous attractions on the ground. Following the rescheduling of the event from earlier in the year due to flooding at the airfield, when the sun broke through on the Sunday morning everybody knew it was going to be a tremendous day.
For the East Anglian Air Ambulance, who were the nominated charity for the day, this family day out has resulted in them being presented with a cheque for £4000. Laetita Hilling from the East Anglian Air Ambulance, received the cheque whilst sitting in the rear of the cockpit of the DHC1 Chipmunk which was one of the many planes that displayed on the day, flown by a Seething based pilot.

Also seen in the presentation (from L-R) are Ann-Margaret Barber of the organising committee, Ben Horne a member of Seething Airfield volunteer fire crew, and Hanna Atkins of 1st Carlton Colville Air Scouts representing the many voluntary organisations that were involved on the day.

Paul Holmes, Chairman of the organising committee once again expressed his thanks to everybody who had given so much of their time and skills to make the event happen, in particular the Bungay Lion’s Club and the Waveney Flying Club. Seething Charity Air Day 2008 is already planned and a date will be announced shortly. Although the content is under close wraps, a fun day out for the whole family is assured.

PFA Changes Name
The PFA is to change its name – assuming the AGM approves – to the Light Aircraft Association. One reason is, to quote the Vice- Chairman, ‘In a world where upbeat and modern is the expected norm, PFA has a rather fuddy-duddy feel’, and membership has been slowly declining. The change is also in recognition of the planned new European Light Aircraft category and Light Aircraft Pilot’s Licence, both of which are intended to make it easier and cheaper to fly light aircraft. Other new LAA (better get used to it) initiatives include focus groups for six different member segments, legal advice for members, aircrew photo ID, and a new enthusiast website. [www.pilotweb.aero]

Fuel Tax
Twenty years ago aviation pressure groups successfully petitioned the Treasury for a reduction in avgas tax, because avgas, being produced in much smaller quantities than car petrol, was much more expensive.

Avgas Price
National News: The price of avgas is likely to rise by about 2p a litre following a successful campaign to restrict an EU-mandated tax rise to the lowest possible level. The threat of a rise of about 30p a litre has receded. [www.pilotweb.aero]
