Seething Charity Airday 2006

The 2006 charity Wings and Wheels Open Day was a great success and was probably the hottest event that Seething has ever seen! Temperatures soared towards the 30's and the skies were clear all day long.

The Fly In was also well received, particularly as a magnificent buffet had been laid on in the club house. The flight line took up most of both sides of the short runway as well as half down the back taxiway.

In general attendance was high with visitors making the most of the days weather and perhaps consoling themselves over England's defeat in the World Cup the previous day. Among the many attractions were a big band, various military and vehicle enthusiasts groups and the usual collection of local craft stalls, and, as a welcome relief for some given the heat, the Bungay Lions ducking stool.

One unexpected visit to the event, albeit rather briefly, was Rescue 125, the Wattisham based ASR Sea King which passed south of the airfield on its way to a assist with diver in difficulty of Happisburgh but was able to give us all a fly past on its return.

Another great attraction was the control tower museum which hosted an nostalgic display of military trucks, cars and motorcycles.
